The story of 7th Wonder: making our bespoke gin.

Date

Feb 05, 2020

Back in November last year we launched our creative rebrand, developing our identity and website to echo our values, approach and ambition.

Positioning creativity, collaboration and transformation at the heart of everything we do is important to Wonder as a business – as is championing the incredible people who make the company tick. Therefore to celebrate the rebrand internally (and have a bit of fun) we shared the new company visuals, split everyone into teams and set them a very special competition...

The spirit of Wonder.

Using our core values as a starting point, the teams had one hour to select the botanicals that they felt truly embodied the spirit and the essence of Wonder! We also challenged them to create a new brand for their gin, including name and packaging.

Cultivate exceptional standards.

Grow together.

Work with refreshing honesty.

Solve with restless imagination.

Picking our winning team.

The teams were all given core ingredients (Juniper, Coriander Seeds, Orris Root and Angelica Root), but everything else was up for grabs! Each team had 10 minutes to present back their new branding, including those all important ingredients, and wow the crowd before the room then voted.

Our winners were then crowned... 7th Wonder Gin! Celebrating seven years since the agency began, find out more about their botanical selections on the right.

Mace.

Recreates the spice of the Wonder team.

Pink Peppercorn.

To end with a punchy note, a pink punctuation dot.

Woodworm and
Asparagus.

An earthy twist as we grow with friends.

Lemon and
Lemongrass.

We energise our restless imagination.

The 7th Wonder team then headed down to The Ginstitute in Portobello Road for an afternoon of history lessons, tastings and gin creation.

We were given a tutored tasting and nosing of the botanicals that make up our 7th Wonder bottle, to make sure that we were happy with the result, before blending the distilled botanicals together to create a completely unique recipe. The result is a crisp and refreshing gin – and the perfect bottling of the Wonder values and culture.

Stay tuned, a bottle of 7th Wonder could be finding its way to you very soon...
