Cursor is a start-up defining the AI era with its industry-shaping coding agent. But as a brand in its infancy, it had never held a conference or customer event. The challenge was simple. Create a one-day conference and showcase that could bring the best of Cursor to a loyal base of developers, enterprise engineers, researchers and indie builders.

Scaling the power of the Third Space
Cursor had a legacy of bringing its global community together for beta demos and group ships through its Cafe Cursor series.
Strategically, this was an opportunity to reconsider the typical broadcast mentality of a user conference and shape the brand’s first event for the same community by building a familiar third space at scale.

Establishing the 'Neighborhood Protocol'
We knew that developers didn’t need another event, but a better place to be and explore meaningful collisions. A space prioritising the logic of the craft and the rhythm of the hang over the noise of the stage.
Anchoring the footprint around our very own Cafe Cursor, we established a mini neighborhood of stages, breakout spaces and workshop zones that enabled attendees to build, browse and connect in their way. No badges, no lanyards, no herding.
Whether it was taking in the CEO’s keynote from the Cowell Theater or watching it relayed from a comfortable perch on the Pavilion staircase; tapping-in to see your personalised Year in Code (an infographic breakdown of guests' Cursor usage); or bellying up to our keyboard workshop and customising the swaggiest of developer swag - Compile was a experience designed to help guests feel both delighted and - crucially - present.
